Catching Up: Tales Of Elephants, Wats and Ping PongsJanuary 22nd, 2006

Sunday, 15th January, Classic Place Hotel, Bangkok, 12am

Well I’ve missed quite a few days of typing, so I have to break this entry down and just do a quick recap, because I’m tired and I just don’t want to forget what happened. Basically I’ve been sick for pretty much a week, ever since the “Police Station Incident.” I’ve been eating barely anything, which isn’t going to hurt me, but the scary thing was that, even though nothing was going in, stuff was still coming on out, so I ended up having to drink loads of water, and I was getting really tired really early in the night, so the days I’ve missed have been fairly boring anyway. So here goes, for a quick summary of about a week Read the rest of this entry »

Floating Out Of Laos And Into ThailandJanuary 22nd, 2006

Monday, 9th January, Roong Ruong Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand

So our last day in Luang Prabang involved numerous encounters with crazy people. We spent most of the day just walking back and forth along the main street, helping Jen find some gifts for friends at home. James and I were too tired to be bothered doing anything too intense, so wandering the streets was an enjoyable way to pass the day.
The first crazy person was our old favourite, Crazy Beggar Guy Read the rest of this entry »

So Many Buddhas (and Moonshine Whiskey Vats)January 4th, 2006

Thursday, 5th January, Namsok Guest House, Luang Prabang, Laos

What fun yesterday was! We met Jen and Kareem at 8:30, had breakfast, and then headed to find a boat we could rent for the day. We figured that between the four of us, it would end up costing the same as a tour, or less, but we get the joy of being alone and not constricted by tour guidelines Read the rest of this entry »

Laos ER: A Journey Into SE Asian Medical FacilitiesJanuary 4th, 2006

Tuesday, 3rd January, Namsok Guest House, Luang Prabang, Laos, 11pm

This is a “Memento” entry. It starts here, tonight, and then maybe, soberness permitting, heads backwards. For now, I just have to talk about tonight. An experience. With new friends, Jen and Kareem. Well, it was all to do with Jen, really, but Kareem was told all about our experience later in the night Read the rest of this entry »

Tubing Down The Nam XongJanuary 4th, 2006

Friday, 30th December, Vang Vilay Hotel, Vang Vieng, Laos, 7:45am

James and I are beginning to wish we’d spent a month in Laos and only two weeks in Vietnam. This country is incredible, and it still feels relatively untouched. Vietnam was so commercialised and, in all honesty, a bit boring. We’re not the first to think this Read the rest of this entry »

Sapa.
your fog is so immense
your mountains apparently exist

Talking To Vietnamese ToiletsDecember 26th, 2005

Saturday, 17th December, Sunny Hotel, Hanoi, 8:05pm

Well, considering I spent all of yesterday curled up in bed, only leaving to vomit and feel generally sorry for myself, I don’t have much to add. Actually that’s not entirely true; we did heaps and heaps of stuff today, so I do have a bit to report, but yesterday was a write-off Read the rest of this entry »
