Career Summary
After completing my Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Cultural Studies, I was selected for the position of the 2005 young writer-in-residence at Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre. During this time, I worked on my own writing, while also facilitating workshops and group meetings. Throughout my degree I worked casually in different industries; I worked in retail from 2001-2003, and the hospitality industry from 2003-2005. In 2002-2003 I also tutored two Year Twelve students in English studies.
Career Objective
To obtain a creative position where my academic qualifications and my skills in editing, workshopping and creative writing will give me the opportunity to expose, encourage and motivate writers.

Position: Young Writer-in-Residence, Katherine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre
Responsibilities:
Significantly develop a current piece of creative work
Host a literary dinner
Attend and, when requested, facilitate the centres’ weekly writing groups
Organise and facilitate a workshop on an original subject
Write press release for this workshop, and generate relevant press coverage
Write two reports on time as a writer-in-residence
Supervise and educate a large group of eighth grade students during their excursion to the centre
Take responsibility for Katharine Susannah Prichard’s property
Main Achievements:
Completion of a draft manuscript for a novella
Press coverage in a broad selection of newspapers, including a professional photograph
Positive response from workshop attendees, with a number of works being produced that had high potential for development
Sold-out literary dinner, with work receiving an encouraging and supportive response from all
Workshops with younger students producing enthusiasm for the art of writing
December 2003 – November 2005
Position: Casual Food and Beverage Attendant, Osborne Park Hotel and George ‘n’ Dragon Hotel.
Responsibilities:
Supervise public and Bistro bars
Work frequently unsupervised, as well as with fellow team members
Affect opening and closing procedures according to store policy
Consider and enforce decisions regarding customers and alcohol consumption
Maintain an orderly and neat work environment
Main Achievements:
Growth of problem-solving skills when dealing with highly stressful, volatile situations and persons

Responsibilities:
Supervising and coaching students in English studies, specifically grammar and essay structure
